Chic Musique
1999

I finally figured out who Hector reminds me of, Ruby, you know, Leslie Rankine's post-Silverfish project?  Even if you don't remember Ms. Rankine, that's acceptable too because now you can embrace Andréa Hector & co. with an open mind.

The first track on this four song EP is 'On to You', which is a stellar song.  Hector's music could be referred to as electronic, since some of it is done with computers, but it sounds as much like hard indie rock as id does electronica.  'On to You' keeps building within the song. which, while listening thru the EP, is a general theme.  Once the full impact of the song hits, I can't imagine someone not being a Hector fan.

The next song, 'Take A Pill', has a few more electronic sounding elements than it's predecessor, but this is also one of my radio play favorites.

The third song is 'I Know You', which shows off a bit more of Andréa's bass guitar skills.  It's got a different feel than the rest of the EP, it sort of reminds me of one of Andréa's previous bands, Liquid Amber.

The last song, 'Stephen', rounds the EP out nicely, it's got good lyrics which are worth listening to, and a good groove.  Great things shall come from this, like I said before, anyone who hears this should be a fan for life.
